Leaf Season

Leaf season is considered a period of time from October through December. During leaf season, the City of Lexington will be operating its leaf vacuum machines. Leaf collection is limited to inside the City Limits.

It is VERY IMPORTANT, that when leaves are placed at the curb or roadside to be collected by the leaf vacuum machines, there are no rocks, limbs, or other types of wastes/matter in the leaf piles; as any other unacceptable matter other than leaves, will cause extensive damage to the leaf machines and will delay or prevent leaf collection. The leaf vacuum must have clear access to the leaves; no vehicles of any type, overhead obstructions such as limbs or any other objects will result in the leaves not being collected.
Please be aware the leaf vacuuming process produces fine debris, which could settle on nearby vehicles.

For the purpose of leaf collection, the City is divided into two sections. Leaf season is a weekly collection process and leaves will be collected during each designated section only during the assigned week. This process will be repeated throughout the leaf season. It is very important to become familiar with the sections and the schedule. For timely collection, leaves must be ready at the curb or roadside no later than Monday 6:00 a.m. of the designated collection week. Due to the volume of leaves collected, special collections outside of the designated cycle cannot be permitted.

*Please note: To allow for the Holidays, there may be adjustments/changes to the schedule.
For simplicity’s sake, Main Street will divide the City. The two sections are described as follows:

West Section – all the areas within the City Limits West of Main Street and S. Salisbury Rd. (Old Hwy. 29)

East Section – all the areas within the City Limits East of Main Street

The schedule will be as follows:
