Finance Department

Lexington’s Finance Department is located at 28 West Center Street Lexington, NC 27292. The financial services provided by the department include accounts payable to city vendors, billing accounts receivable, annual budget development and compliance, capital asset accounting, management of the city’s cash and investment portfolio, preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), cost accounting for the enterprise funds, issuance of debt for infrastructure and equipment, annual development of a five-year financial forecast model, grant financial management, internal audit functions, payroll, and ensuring ethical bid and purchasing law compliance. The department is made up of ten employees who collaborate to perform these functions.

The City of Lexington Finance Department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the national Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The City has received the award for 18 consecutive years.
