Public Utilities - Water Resources
Water Resources personnel maintain utility systems for distributing water and collecting wastewater; while providing for the health, safety and welfare of the public. The various departments of Administration, Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Public Works Maintenance & Construction operate under the leadership of the Director of Public Services.
With modern water plants and waste treatment facilities and the capability of pumping more than six million gallons daily, Lexington Utilities has no shortage of fresh healthy drinking water. Lexington has been cited for the best tasting water in the entire state and has received the Advanced Technology Award from the Environmental Protection Agency. Innovative water conservation programs are available for both commercial and residential applications. Additional water quality information is available in the Water Quality Report as well as a System Performance Report from the waste treatment facilities.
