Lexington continues to experience a seven year decline in serious crime. The crime rate is based on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) standardized Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) model for murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and automobile theft that is utilized nationwide. Members of the Lexington Police Department take a proactive approach to responding to and solving criminal offenses within the city. Crime Prevention and drug investigations are also major goals of the department. The men and women that make up the Lexington Police Department strive to make Lexington the safest city in North Carolina to live, work and visit.
