The Garage Department operates a facility for preventive maintenance and repair of city-owned vehicles and equipment. The department is responsible for the maintenance and ongoing repair of approximately 460 vehicles and equipment.
To provide prompt maintenance services essential in the 24-7 operations of public safety and public utilities, the Garage maintains an inventory of fuel and replacement parts on hand. The primary responsibilities of Garage certified personnel include maintenance records, scheduled servicing of vehicles and equipment, proper assignment of the city's motorpool fleet for effective utilization and operation of the City's central fueling station.
Garage Superintendent Dirk Apt oversees this area of responsibility.
