
The Human Services Division deals with human resource functions including hiring and promotion, and risk management.
Hiring and Promotion
The Human Services Division is responsible for recruitment and assessment of prospective employees, coordinating initial orientation for new employees, and career ladder assessments for staff seeking promotion. The division closely works with the
Fire Chief and the
Human Resources department to attract and retain the best possible people to the Lexington Fire Department.
The division also coordinates annual individual and fire company performance evaluations, medical monitoring and physical fitness evaluations of firefighters.
Risk Management
The Human Services Division is responsible for development and implementation of the department's risk management program. The division works with the
Fire Chief, station officers and the
Risk Safety Manager to develop initiatives and directives designed to increase the measure of safety for employees; while at the same time reducing Lexington Fire Department's, and consequently the City's, exposure to risk.
