This Part-Time Greenskeeper position will be involved with the maintenance of the golf course under the regular supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. The worker will assist in preparing, maintaining, and mowing golf course, maintaining course facilities, systems and equipment; mowing fairways, roughs and greens; changing pin location; raking sand traps; fertilizing tees, fairways and greens; watering greens and fairways, installing and raking and repairing sand, maintaining irrigation systems; assisting with grounds improvement, laying sod; repairing cart path and other facilities.
- Some knowledge of the methods, materials and practices used in golf course maintenance;
- Some knowledge of equipment used to maintain a golf course and its safe operations;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, course guests and the general public;
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school;
- Valid NC driver’s license and good driving record.
Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. The work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, and repetitive motions. Speech and hearing is required to communicate in person and by radio. Visual acuity is required for inspection of small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surrounding and activities. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including extremes of heat and cold, hazards and atmospheric condition.
Work Environment and Schedule
Outside work environment. Variable hours, Monday - Friday between 6:30am and 3:30pm, but typically 20-30 hours per week during peak season of April - September. Off season hours are as needed. This position works less than 1000 hours in a calendar year.
