Lexington Chief of Police John E. Lollis
The Chief of Police has the responsibility of directing the law enforcemet efforts to improve the quality of life of the residents of Lexington. he Lexington Police Department primary purpose
is to protect the lives and property of every person living, working, and visiting the city. The Chief is committed to workign with citizens to solve community problems and promote an atmosphere of fairness and trust.
John E. Lollois was appointed chief of Police December 1, 2005 where he has proudly served since July 1976. He has served in the patrol and investigative divisons. Lollis was promoted to Lieutenant in 1987 and Captain in 1996.
In his career with the City, Mr. Lollis has:
- Received an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Standards Division in 1985.
- Been named Outstanding Young Public Servant of the Year in 1989 by the Lexington Jaycees.
- Graduated from the Executive Development Program at the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990.
- Graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Command College in 1998.
- Graduated from the North Carolina Administrative Officers Management Program in 2002.
- Been the Regional Coordinator for the Governor's Highway Safety Program since 2003.
- Been named Law Enforcement Officers of the Year in 2004 by the Lexington Area Crime Stoppers and Davidson County Grange.
- Been named State Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2004 by the North Carolina Grange.
Mr. Lollis is a graduate of Lexington Senior High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolian University in 2003.
Mr. Lollis resides in Lexington with his wife Lynette and his 3 children Justin, Courtney and Lynnsey.
